Mark Tandy
Biography
Mark Tandy is an Irish actor of stage, film and television who was born in Athlone, County Westmeath, and trained at Winchester College, the University of Bristol Drama Department and the National Youth Theatre, which he belonged to from 1974 to 1976. His first professional stage work came in 1979 with the Royal Shakespeare Company at Stratford-upon-Avon, including the original staging of Nicholas Nickleby, and he went on to appear at the National Theatre, the Royal Court, the Old Vic and in the West End. On television he played WB Yeats for the BBC in 1982 and later took parts in The Jewel in the Crown, Inspector Morse, Poirot and The Crown, as Cecil Beaton. His films include Maurice (1987) as Viscount Risley, Howards End (1992), Defence of the Realm (1985) and A Cock and Bull Story (2005).
