Margi Clarke

Margi Clarke is an English actress who also presents on radio and television. Born in Liverpool and raised in Kirkby, Lancashire, she started presenting in 1978 on the late-night magazine program What's On, shown only in the Granada region, and from 1978 to 1985 she sang with punk groups such as Margox and the Zincs. In 1983 she played Fran in early Brookside episodes, then starred in Letter to Brezhnev (1985), a low-budget Liverpool story that became an international hit and won her the Evening Standard British Film Award for Most Promising Newcomer. She followed it with Kaurismäki films including I Hired a Contract Killer (1990) and L.A. Without a Map (1998). Later she appeared in Coronation Street as Jackie Dobbs and fronted The Good Sex Guide, a late-night ITV program, earning a Royal Television Society award as Best Female Presenter in 1994.
