Leonid Bronevoy

Leonid Bronevoy was a Russian actor who trained at the Tashkent State Theatre Institute, graduating in 1950, and later worked in theaters in Tashkent, Irkutsk, Orenburg and Grozny. Born in Kiev in 1928, he moved to Moscow in 1953 and studied acting at the Moscow Art Theatre school, graduating in 1955. His portrayal of the Gestapo chief Muller in the television series Semnadtsat mgnoveniy vesny (1973) made him famous, and he went on to more than 50 film and television roles that showed his range as a satirical, dramatic and comic actor. He worked with directors including Venyamin Dorman, Mark Zakharov and Anatoli Efros, and from 1962 to 1988 acted at the Moscow Theatre Na Maloi Bronnoi, later joining the troupe at the Lenkom Theatre. His stage career covered almost 60 years and more than 150 productions, and he was named People's Actor of Russia and also People's Actor of the USSR. He died in 2017.
