Jim Wynorski

Jim Wynorski, an American screenwriter, director, and producer, has made B movies, action and creature films, softcore pornography, and exploitation films. Born in New York City and raised on Long Island, he left film school without finishing and worked at Doubleday Publishing from 1972 to 1977. After moving to Los Angeles, he worked as a location manager for the television program Breaking Away until he was fired. A chance meeting led to an introduction to Roger Corman, for whom he did publicity and wrote screenplays. Forbidden World (1982) was his first produced screenplay. His directing debut was The Lost Empire (1984), and his second film was Chopping Mall (1986). Corman hired him for Deathstalker II (1987) and Big Bad Mama II (1987). He directed The Return of Swamp Thing (1989) and erotic thrillers such as Sins of Desire (1993). Later creature films include Gargoyle: Wings of Darkness (2004) and Komodo vs. Cobra (2005).
