Jeff Ament
Biography
Jeff Ament is an American musician best known as Pearl Jam's bassist and a co-founder of the group. Raised in Big Sandy, Montana, he took up bass as a teenager and landed in Seattle in 1983. He played in Green River starting in 1984, then helped form Mother Love Bone, and after that group ended he and Stone Gossard and Mike McCready launched Pearl Jam in 1990. The band's debut Ten made them a mainstream act, and Ament wrote or co-wrote hits such as Jeremy, Oceans, Dissident, Nothingman and Nothing as It Seems. His side work includes Temple of the Dog, Three Fish and RNDM, plus solo records Tone and While My Heart Beats. Pearl Jam's 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction included him, and his album art brought him two Grammy Awards. He also scored the television series Under the Banner of Heaven with Josh Klinghoffer.
