Biography

Jason Kidd is an American basketball coach and former player. A San Francisco native who grew up in Oakland, he starred at California before Dallas made him the second choice in the 1994 NBA draft. He split Rookie of the Year honors with Grant Hill, then played for Phoenix and New Jersey, helping the Nets reach the NBA Finals in both 2002 and 2003. A pass-first point guard and triple-double threat, he came back to Dallas and captured an NBA championship in 2011, ending his playing days with the New York Knicks in 2013. His resume includes ten All-Star nods, Olympic gold medals in 2000 and 2008, a 2018 spot in the Basketball Hall of Fame, and selection to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team. He went on to coach Brooklyn and Milwaukee, worked as a Los Angeles Lakers assistant during a 2020 title run, and took over as Dallas head coach in 2021.
