James Hayden
Biography
James Hayden, born in Brooklyn in 1953, was an American actor remembered for his role as Patrick Patsy Goldberg in Once Upon a Time in America (1984). Before turning to acting he trained as an Army medic during the Vietnam War, then went back to New York and studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts before starting his career on stage and screen. In 1983, the year he died, he appeared on Broadway in American Buffalo as a heroin addict, playing opposite Al Pacino in a production that critics acclaimed, and he was given a standing ovation after the performance. Mickey Rourke dedicated his performance in The Pope of Greenwich Village to Hayden's memory in 1984.
