Ivan Linow was born in 1888 in Latvia as Janis Linaus. He was an actor, known for The River (1929), The Unholy Three (1930) and The Red Dance (1928). He died on November 21, 1940 in London, England.

A change of course
Linow started wrestling in the United States in 1918. From 1918 through 1933 he took part in 92 matches, winning 38 and losing 23, and was known in the ring as "the Cossack" and the "Russian Man-Eater".
Big break
Linow entered the film industry in the 1920s thanks to his fame as a wrestler. Cappy Ricks, from 1921, was his first film, and across a fifteen-year acting career he took supporting and bit parts in more than forty movies.
A change of course
Linow wrestled on while he was appearing in films. Using the pseudonym Jack Leon, he beat Young Sandow in July 1931, in what turned out to be his last match.
