Henrique Couto

Biography

Henrique Couto is an American film director and writer who was born in Dayton, Ohio and is known for directing Babysitter Massacre. His first feature, Marty Jenkins and the Vampire Bitches, came out in 2005 and led to a career of nearly 20 more directing credits, plus many producing jobs. Faces of Schlock, released in 2009, was the first of his features to reach national distribution. Babysitter Massacre earned praise for the character pathos it brought to an exploitation movie, and it was the last independent DVD to sit on Blockbuster Video shelves. Couto has made films in genres including comedy, western and family, building a loyal fanbase. In 2019 he produced and directed Boggy Creek: The Series, about the Fouke Monster, with Fred Olen Ray as executive producer and Brinke Stevens and Eric Roberts among its stars. That year he also hosted the cult movie show Popcorn Fodder, and he has narrated the horror fiction podcast Weekly Spooky.
