Damian Lee

Biography

Damian Lee is a Canadian director and producer who moved from competitive skiing into sports event organizing and television. He won the 1968 Southern Ontario Junior Championship in giant slalom and later raced on the World Pro Skiing tour in the 1974 to 1975 season. In 1977 he founded Rose & Ruby Productions, which produced most of his work until 1993, and created programming for CTV that leaned on corporate sponsors and ordinary participants. Lee entered mainstream film in 1983 with the television movie Copper Mountain (1983), notable for an early leading role for Jim Carrey. Over the 1980s and 1990s he became a regular supplier of low budget genre pictures, including an underground boxing series whose second entry he directed. Through a partnership with Ashok Amritraj's company, he produced a number of vehicles for martial artist Jeff Wincott. Around 2005 Lee revived his Noble House company and turned toward more dramatic, artistically minded projects.
