Claire Du Brey
Biography
Claire Du Brey was an American actress whose screen work spanned more than two hundred films between 1916 and 1959. She was born in Bonner's Ferry, Idaho, and began her movie career at Universal Studios, later performing for nearly every major studio. Among her more notable early films were Anything Once (1917), Social Briars (1918), The Devil's Trail (1919), What Every Woman Wants (1919) and Dangerous Hours (1919); other credits included The Wishing Ring Man, The Spite Bride, The World Aflame and The Walk Offs. The arrival of sound hurt her career, and afterward she mostly played small parts. In the 1930s she also worked as an agent, with clients such as Mary Carlisle, Richard Cromwell and Kitty Kelly. Late in 1934 Anna Q. Nilsson joined her operation and dealt with producers and directors, while Du Brey ran the office.
