Carolyn Jones
Biography
Carolyn Jones was an American actress who worked in film and television. Born in Amarillo, Texas, she enrolled at the Pasadena Playhouse, where a talent scout spotted her and she signed with Paramount Pictures. Her first screen appearances included The Big Heat (1953) and House of Wax (1953), and in 1956 she took roles in The Man Who Knew Too Much and Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Her part in The Bachelor Party (1957) earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress, and she shared the Golden Globe for New Star of the Year for Marjorie Morningstar. She played opposite Elvis Presley in King Creole (1958) and appeared in How the West Was Won (1962). From 1964 to 1966 she played Morticia Addams on The Addams Family, a role that brought a Golden Globe nomination, and she appeared in Eaten Alive (1976). Her last role was on the soap opera Capitol.
