Carol Ohmart

Carol Ohmart was an American actress and model who appeared in films and television from the early 1950s into the 1970s. Born in Salt Lake City and raised in Washington, she won Miss Utah in 1946 and placed fourth in Miss America, which led to modeling work for Milton Caniff's Steve Canyon. After early television commercials and Broadway understudy work, Paramount signed her in 1955. She made her feature debut with top billing in Michael Curtiz's The Scarlet Hour (1956) and co-starred with Anthony Quinn in The Wild Party. She was noted for playing a murderous wife in William Castle's House on Haunted Hill (1959). Her other films included Wild Youth (1960), One Man's Way (1964), Spider Baby or, The Maddest Story Ever Told (1967), and Caxambu!, and her final role was in The Spectre of Edgar Allan Poe (1974). The press called her a female Brando, and the New York Times called her work in One Man's Way effective.
