Bruce Buffer
Biography
Bruce Buffer is a mixed martial arts ring announcer who has long served as the UFC's octagon announcer. Born in Tulsa, he began judo in Philadelphia at thirteen, then moved to Malibu and trained in Tang Soo Do, later competing as a kickboxer. He first announced UFC fights in 1996, handling the preliminary bout at UFC 8 and all fights at UFC 10, and then persuaded Bob Meyrowitz to install him as the full-time announcer beginning with UFC 13. On broadcasts he announces It's time before the main event and performs the Buffer 180 turn for marquee bouts, plus a Buffer 360 at UFC 100. Outside the UFC he has announced K-1, HBO boxing, and ADCC submission wrestling, and is a world-rated poker player seen on World Series of Poker and World Poker Tour telecasts. He appeared as himself in Hot Tub Time Machine 2 (2015). The International Sports Hall of Fame inducted him in 2024.
