Biography

American writer and actor Bonz Malone got his start in 1986 as a teenage reporter for New Youth Connections, the New York City student magazine, where he developed a hip hop writing voice in his Streetalk column. He later wrote for Spin, Vibe and The Source, and his 1995 Source cover story on the Notorious B.I.G. became that magazine's best-selling issue. He is also the author of the book Hip Hop Immortals, and he was a script consultant on the 1992 film Juice. He appeared in several films by Marc Levin, starring in Levin's prison drama Slam (1998), which won the Camera d'Or at Cannes and the dramatic grand jury prize at Sundance, and he also appeared in Whiteboyz and Brooklyn Babylon. His other credits include Shaft and Men Without Jobs.
