Adolfo Quinones
Biography
Adolfo Quinones, who performed as Shabba Doo, was an American break dancer, actor, and choreographer. Born and raised in Chicago, he began dancing in Los Angeles nightclubs in the 1970s, where he adopted the name Shabba Doo and joined The Lockers, a group that helped popularize locking. In 1984 he played Ozone, a lead role in the breakdancing musical Breakin' (1984), a box office success that led to Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo (1984). He continued acting in films and television and performed or choreographed for artists including Lionel Richie, Madonna, Luther Vandross, Chaka Khan, and Three Six Mafia. He was the main choreographer for Madonna's 1987 Who's That Girl? Tour, appeared in Tango & Cash (1989) and Lambada (1990), and died in 2020.

About the name
Quiñones first went by the name Sir Lance-a-Lock. That name later turned into Shabba-Dabba-Do-Bop, and in the end he shortened it to Shabba-Doo.
A first
Quiñones was part of The Original Lockers, a group that also included Don "Campbellock" Campbell, Fred "Rerun" Berry and Toni Basil. Together they helped pioneer the dance style known as locking.

Quiñones worked as a main choreographer and a primary dancer for Madonna's Who's That Girl? Tour, which took place in 1987.
Beyond film
At the 78th Academy Awards, Quinones handled the choreography for Three Six Mafia's performance, and the group took home the Oscar for best original song with "It's Hard out Here for a Pimp".
