Plot summary
The stage line run by Molly Lang, a widow, and her partner Ben Hickman is the one business in Jericho that Alex Flood does not control. A lawman gone bad, Flood has seized most of the town and hired gunmen to enforce his rule. He shoots up a stagecoach bound for Jericho, wounding its driver, Ben Hickman; the only passenger, Dolan, brings him into town. Dolan was once Hickman's deputy. Molly refuses to let Flood take over her stage line, and Flood's men pressure her. Dolan takes a liking to Molly but sees the odds against her and is close to leaving town. When Yarbrough, one of Flood's men, roughs her up, Dolan steps in and fights him.
