Plot summary
Lucy has spent years eating to avoid her problems and has long described herself as the fat friend in her college circle. She phones Becky in tears, implying she is dying, and asks her to round up the others for one last trip to the Montana lodge where Lucy works. At the airport the friends meet: Becky and her husband Richard, George, Trevor, Austin, and Raye with his wife Mary. Sam, sent by Lucy, drives them to the lodge, where a blonde woman greets them and is Lucy, no longer heavy. Over lunch she explains her gastric bypass surgery and the four pounds she still wants to lose. The next morning she wakes them for a four-day hike.
