Plot summary
Ali Ekber earns his living in Berlin as a garbage collector and spends part of his time helping at a theater. He feels that his friends have betrayed him. When a police uniform that belongs to the theater's props comes into his possession, he puts it on and passes himself off as a German police officer. He hopes the disguise will impress Babett, the waitress he loves.

- The film was a hit in Turkish cinemas in the late 1980s, but it reached German television only eight years later, when ZDF gave it its premiere in a version shortened by almost ten minutes.
- A decade later the Berlin policeman Murat Topal, one of the Turkish-origin officers by then actually serving in Germany, drew partly on experiences similar to those of the film's hero and developed a successful comedy programme.
