Every Christmas in the San Miguel de Nenepilco neighborhood of Mexico City, Jesús "Chucho" Juárez plays the devil in the pastorela, the Nativity play staged by his parish, and he has done it for years. He lives there with his daughter Magdalena and works as a judicial agent with the federal police. This season a deputy prosecutor is assassinated and the case keeps him busy. Meanwhile a new priest, Edmundo Posadas, decides the pastorela will not include Chucho and hands the part to Vulmaro, Chucho's compadre.
