One Deadly Summer (1983) on Netflix

Plot summary

In the spring of 1976 a family settles in a small town in southern France: Eliane Wieck, nineteen, her German-born mother Paula, and her disabled father Gabriel Devigne. Eliane carries her mother's surname rather than her father's, and the town notices her at once. She picks out Pin-Pon, who works as a mechanic and serves as a volunteer firefighter, weeps on his shoulder about her weak eyes and her reputation, moves into his home, knits clothes for a baby and plans their wedding. She also asks his mother and his aunt about an old mechanical piano in the barn and about who brought it there on a night in November 1955, and what it has to do with her mother's grief, her father's injury and the name on her birth certificate.
