Plot summary
Sergei, an anthropologist from Russia, has been studying a legend that says demons exist and that an entrance to Hell lies beneath the city of Moscow. He goes missing while he is doing that research. Owen, an American priest and a friend of his, assembles a rescue team and hires guides to lead the way through the tunnels and catacombs under the city in search of Sergei. Andrey heads a group of Moscovites who make their home in that underground. The team goes deeper into a network of caves and catacombs on several levels, passages that the legend says demons inhabit.
