Plot summary
In 1980s Taipei, Mosquito has no father and no friends when he starts at a rough high school in the Monga district. He stands up to a bully on his first day, which earns him the attention of Dragon, the son of Geta, who leads the Qingshui Temple Front gang. Dragon brings him into a new crew with Monk, Monkey and A-po, and the five call themselves the Princes Gang. At home, Mosquito is distant from Ling-wan, his single mother, who runs a beauty salon and depends on money from Grey Wolf, an old flame and a gangster who visits the shop. Mosquito also meets Ning, a prostitute. The Princes' rise in the district puts them against other gangs.
