Microbe and Gasoline (2015) on Netflix

Plot summary

Daniel, called Microbe, and Théo, called Gasoline, are junior high misfits in Versailles. Daniel is small and gets bullied, and Laura, a taller classmate, likes him, though he is awkward around girls. Théo is analytical beyond his years. Both come from hard homes: Théo's father is cold and his mother unwell, while Daniel's mother takes his long hair and his friendships with girls as a sign he is questioning his gender. The pair want to cross France but have neither car nor license, so Théo proposes a vehicle powered by a lawnmower engine on a chassis of abandoned scrap. Daniel answers Théo's worry about drawing attention by making it double as a garden shed. Crude as it is, it runs.
