Plot summary
Hugo is a teenager whose mother and younger siblings have emigrated. On his own, he thinks up a film about his loneliness. He meets a director and puts the idea to him: a movie in which Hugo plays his own part, with the people around him as themselves. His mother, his school and his grandfather all decline to take part. Hugo becomes more and more alone and sinks into depression, which strains his friendships and his relationship with his girlfriend. He cannot sleep and he is late for class.
