Plot summary
Chris Hammond is a high school senior who likes Lori Beaumont, a girl already dating his rival Rick Anderson. His father Jack is a surgeon hoping to be named chief of staff at his hospital. Chris's friend Clarence, called Trigger, has an uncle whose leg was mended by Native Americans using a potion they call the Brain-Transference Serum. Trigger demonstrates it on Chris's cat and dog, and the two pets trade bodies. He carries the serum in a Tabasco sauce bottle, which the Hammonds' housekeeper Phyllis sets in the food cupboard. Jack mixes some into his Bloody Mary without knowing what it is. Whoever drinks the serum switches bodies with the next person whose eyes they meet, and when Jack looks at Chris, father and son trade places.
