Plot summary
Luka is a Serbian engineer who has moved from Belgrade to run a railway station in the mountains of Bosnia with Jadranka, his wife, and Miloš, his son, who plays football and hopes to join Partizan. The railway has just been completed, and Luka gets it ready to open while ignoring the war that has broken out in Croatia. Miloš is drafted into the Serbian army and Jadranka goes off with a Hungarian musician. An acquaintance then brings him Sabaha, a Bosnian Muslim held as a hostage.
