Plot summary
Urzu, the Seljuk governor, betroths his daughter Çise to a khan of the Golden Horde, a union that would close Anatolia to Mongol armies. Word of the match reaches the Mongols, and Camoka's riders carry the princess off. In the forest Karaoglan comes upon Mongols holding a girl captive, fights them and sets her free, not knowing who she is. Camoka, furious that she has slipped from his men, turns his pursuit on Karaoglan. Karaoglan escorts Çise as far as Malatya, where he meets Bayirgulu, a girl who makes her living as a thief. Urzu then asks Karaoglan to deliver Çise to her betrothed in the Golden Horde, the party dressed as a trade caravan so Mongol eyes pass over it. Camoka keeps up the pursuit, and jealousy grows between Bayirgulu and Çise over Karaoglan.
