Plot summary

The spaceship Cyrno has spent six years crossing space to TEM 4, the source of a call for help. When the crew lands, the planet's people, the Temers, deny sending any message. Their rich ruler, Ronk, calls the distress call a mistake and offers a party as an apology. Commander Akala orders the ship made ready to depart, but before it can leave, Ronk's invitation arrives, with food and dancers for the visitors. The navigator, Suko, distrusts the welcome and stays behind on the Cyrno to keep the ship secure, while the rest of the crew goes to the celebration.
