Plot summary
An attack from Alpha Centauri in 2039 begins a war with an enemy no human has ever seen. Domes shield the cities, and a global military government directs the fighting. Thirty years on, Spencer Olham holds a classified post designing weapons for that government. Major Hathaway of the Earth Security Administration stops him and accuses him of being a replicant the aliens built, a living duplicate given transplanted memories who does not know what he is, carrying a bomb in place of a heart that arms when it nears the person it is meant to kill. An intercepted alien transmission, Hathaway says, named Olham's target. Olham is brought in for questioning.

- Impostor was originally meant to be one segment of Light Years, a three-part science fiction anthology, and was the only segment filmed before the project fell apart. The other planned shorts were adaptations of Isaac Asimov's "The Last Question" by Bryan Singer and Donald A. Wollheim's "Mimic" by Matthew Robbins.
