Plot summary

In late 21st century New York, genetically modified humans share the city with alien refugees, and Central Park lies sealed inside an intrusion zone that kills anyone who enters. A pyramid hangs over the city, and inside it the gods of ancient Egypt judge Horus, ordering him to lose his immortality unless he reincarnates: he has seven days to take a mortal host and father a child with a woman able to bear one. In the city below, Jill, a blue-haired woman whose cells are barely three months old, is captured by a eugenics company that experiments on refugees; the scientist Elma Turner takes an interest in her. Nikopol, jailed as a rebel and sentenced to thirty years in hibernation, is thrown loose when his cryo-prison topples, a year before his term was up.
