Plot summary
In 1946, a houseguest attacks young Ida Parsons in the woods, and her dogs escape their pen and kill him. Decades later Ida lives alone on Dog Island, leaving only twice a year for supplies and speaking to no one. Brothers Eric and Nick Simmons borrow their father's yacht to bring Sandy, Donna and their sister Carla to St. Martin Island. That night they rescue Bert, a fisherman whose boat wrecked offshore, and he tells them about the wild dogs on Ida's island.
