Plot summary

Camille, fifteen, is in love with Sullivan, nineteen. He is preparing to spend ten months traveling in South America with his friends, and he is not taking her, which leaves her feeling insecure and resentful. She repeatedly insists that his departure proves he does not love her, which irritates him. Before he leaves, the two of them spend a last holiday at her family's house in the Ardèche mountains. The trip begins well, but Camille becomes upset when Sullivan goes out on an errand and stays away, leaving her by herself. They quarrel briefly and then make up, and Sullivan tells her he will love her always.
