Plot summary
Johan Falk is a police officer, and a commotion during his last assignment has landed him behind a desk, a punishment that suits him badly. His old friend Sven Persson owns a textile company in Estonia, where gangsters have been pressing him for protection money. Persson hires the private eye Nikolaus to handle them. Nikolaus kills the gangsters instead and wants a cut of the business. Persson asks Falk for help, and Falk decides the police cannot protect the family. He goes to Mårtenson and Pernilla, who run a security firm, and they agree to take Persson on. Falk accepts a job there as well.
