Plot summary
In 1935 the newly established international basketball organization FIBA stages the first European championship in Geneva, where national teams from across the continent will meet on the court for the first time. Each hopes to take the title of first European champion. Basketball is still unfamiliar in Europe, where American missionaries have been spreading it since the 1920s, and the continent is meanwhile trying to unite through the League of Nations. Coach Valdemārs Baumanis is certain he can gather a national team and get it to Geneva. Assembling the squad brings difficulties, and the people nearest to him give help he did not expect.
