Plot summary
A brain injury has left Jackson Briggs, a former U.S. Army Ranger, unfit for a rotation posting in Pakistan. When his friend and former partner Riley Rodriguez dies in a car crash, Briggs is called to Fort Lewis and assigned to escort Riley's military dog to the funeral in Nogales, Arizona. Lulu, a Belgian Malinois female with a record of aggression, is to be brought to White Sands afterward, where she will be euthanized. Briggs holds back until Captain Jones, his former company commander, offers to back his application. On the road, gunfire spooks Lulu, who gets free of her cage and tears up the passenger seat of Briggs's 1984 Ford Bronco.
