Plot summary

In twelfth-century Córdoba, Ibn Rushd is a philosopher known for his commentaries on Aristotle and serves as one of Caliph ElMansour's most trusted advisors. He lives with his wife Zeinab and their daughter Salma. ElNasser, the caliph's other son, is an intellectual who likes Ibn Rushd and loves Salma. The younger son, Abdallah, prefers dancing and poetry and spends most of his time with a gypsy family, whose daughter he gets pregnant. To build his army, ElMansour depends on religious extremists, whose influence over his decisions grows, and they use their power to combat the city's artists and philosophers.
