Plot summary
Alex Pearson plays hockey at Lemon Oaks High and wants a car, a place on the All-Stars team and the attention of Matisse Burrows. Showboating on the ice has already cost him a suspension, and his father Jasper, a widower, will not help pay for a car until Alex's attitude improves, so Alex is handed chores and the job of watching his little sister Emily after school. Emily's Bumble Bee troop is without a leader after the woman in charge moved away for her husband's job and named no replacement, and the girls fear their troop will be shut down. Alex takes over as their substitute scoutmaster behind a made-up name, and the troop sets out to sell cookies and earn badges so it can reach the Camporee.
