A pack of sharks strikes an oil rig transfer station in the Gulf of Mexico. Dane Quatrell is sent with a team to the station to find out why the sharks attacked it. The sharks are unusually vicious and aggressive, and they have acquired a taste for blood. They are still in the water when the team's sub comes under attack. Only Dane and two others from the crew survive, and hours later a Navy research submarine picks the three of them up.
