Plot summary
Trangö is a small windswept Danish island, and it is known for its eggs. Trangö-eggs are bigger and whiter than others, and they are said to give men great virility and make them irresistible. The islanders eat more of them than the people of any other place. A parish council election is coming, and it looks likely to go to Angelus Bukke and his party, the Friends of Blissfulness (Lycksalighetens Vänner).
