Plot summary
Duke Johnson travels to Bucktown to bury his brother Ben, who owned a bar there and was killed for not paying the police for protection. Ben's widow, Aretha, resents Duke, since he had not been in contact with Ben while he was alive; her friend Harley tries to keep the peace between them. Duke wants to settle Ben's estate, and he is annoyed to hear that it takes sixty days. He reopens Club Alabam, the club Ben left. The local officers harass him and demand money, and Duke and Harley throw them out. After shots are fired at Duke's house, he decides he needs help and calls his old friend Roy.

- The Platte County Courthouse, where the tank crash was shot, was unhappy the movie was filmed there without permission and asked for copies of the script before allowing further filming. Permission was eventually granted and a breakaway wall was installed for the scene where Duke crashes a tank into the building.
- Director Arthur Marks got the idea for Bucktown after reading an article about a bartender in Brooklyn, Illinois who fought back against a corrupt system, a fight that ended in a shootout.
