Plot summary
In New York, ten years after a peaceful socialist revolution brought a socialist government to power, progressive groups are told their concerns are handled, yet women still lose out on jobs and face violence in the streets. Two pirate radio stations, Radio Ragazza and Phoenix Radio, carry the arguments outward: Isabel speaks for one, Honey for the other. A Women's Army takes direct action, advised by the elderly theorist Zella. When activist Adelaide Norris is arrested on arrival at a city airport and dies in police custody, the community is pushed into action. FBI agents track the stations and the Army, and three newspaper editors keep pressing the story.
