Plot summary
Driven from South America by the heat, the Maya follow rumors of golden soil to Anatolia and settle near Bağcılar, folding their own advanced techniques into the tribal culture around them. Byzantium watches the newcomers' fast rise, and Emperor Klitor III is fond of the Maya. His wife, Empress Klitorya V, and his brother Muhteris have other plans for the settlement: the Maya women are to be carried off to the imperial dungeons so that Byzantine lineage can be improved with Maya genetics, while the Maya men are left to take local wives, their line diluted into common stock.
