Plot summary
Komurayya, the elderly head of a family in a Telangana village, lives with his elder son Ailayya, Ailayya's wife Swaroopa and their son Saayilu. Ailayya is short-tempered and does not know that Saayilu owes a moneylender a large sum, which Saayilu hopes to clear with the dowry his fiancée's family will give. Komurayya dies unexpectedly, and Saayilu's engagement is postponed with no date in sight. The death also brings back Komurayya's daughter Lakshmi, whose husband Narayana has been at odds with Ailayya for twenty years. Komurayya's brother asks Narayana to stay in the village eleven more days, and Komurayya's sister blames the betrothal for the death, splitting the family further.
