Plot summary
Ofir, near Esposende on Portugal's northern coast, is where the women of one family run a hotel together. Bitterness has taken hold of how they treat one another, and with the hotel in decline they are struggling to keep it going. A granddaughter arrives without warning, and her presence unsettles the household, bringing hatreds and resentments that had been kept below the surface out into the open.
