Plot summary
Staged at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and shot mostly on 16 mm film, the set draws on Aziz Ansari's own life. He talks about his grandmother and his parents, about white people trying to look anti-racist, and about how what counts as acceptable behavior has shifted in the last ten years. The sexual misconduct controversy he was caught up in the previous year is part of the material, as are the cases of R. Kelly and Michael Jackson. A woman's accusation in January 2018 led him to publish a response, after which he reduced his public profile. A stand-up tour of new material began in late 2018, and the set was filmed in May 2019.
