An American Girl: McKenna Shoots for the Stars (2012) on Netflix

Plot summary

At nine, McKenna Brooks competes for Shooting Star gymnastics with her best friend, Toulane Thomas, and the pair dream of the 2016 Olympics; for now they want places on the regional competitive team. McKenna works on a back handspring dismount for her balance beam routine, and her coach, Isabelle Manning, tells her the move is too advanced for her. After practice, her parents report that her grades are slipping, and her teacher, Mr. Wu, suggests a middle school reading tutor. McKenna refuses one and promises to raise her marks, then flounders on the next day's science quiz. Her parents give her a choice between tutoring and gymnastics, and she meets Josie Myers, a sixth grader who uses a wheelchair, in the school library.
