Plot summary
Samet has taught for years at a school in a remote village in Eastern Anatolia, a posting far from the Istanbul life he left behind, and he wants a transfer back to the city. He returns for the winter term and shares his quarters with Kenan, a fellow teacher. Two female pupils accuse the two men of inappropriate behavior, and one of the accusers is Sevim, a girl Samet had taken under his wing. Around the same time, the men meet Nuray, a teacher from a neighboring village who lost a leg in a terrorist explosion, and the three talk about what life in the region allows and what it forbids.
