Plot summary
Penny and Stuart have been married six years and live in Chicago with Penny's younger sister Nicky, Nicky's husband Bryan and their two children. Penny helps fund Stuart's plan to publish a collection of his nature photography; when the book alone could not support them, she took a copywriting job at Belford Advertising. Stuart takes a last-minute call to shoot in Alaska for the book, and a frustrated Penny says she wishes she had never married. On December 13 she wakes to learn the Christmas angel Jayne has granted her offhand wishes: she is now Senior Vice-President of Marketing at Belford, and she is not married. Penny wants her old life back, and Jayne tells her that cannot happen.
