Plot summary

Twelve years after graduation, Jerry Conlaine, Dan Mott and Tom Marshall come together for the funeral of Billy Newwood, the friend they grew up with. In their old tree house the three find a map Billy had spent years working from, marking the route to the ransom money that disappeared with the hijacker D. B. Cooper in 1971. Dan takes leave from his work, and the friends load a canoe to travel the river Billy had planned to follow. On the water they realize they forgot to bring food, and Tom's attempt to catch fish with a flashlight brings a grizzly bear after them. Their map is damaged, and they cannot tell where the river splits.
